Foreword

The following text is a faithful and precise transcription of the original text and includes errors in spelling, grammar or punctuation present in the original.

The Vancouver Natural History Society is apprehensive regarding the aftermath of the forest devastation which has taken place in Capilano Valley, one of the main watersheds constituting the source of Vancouver City’s water supply, and we believe that it is in the best interests of the city to acquaint citizens of the very serious menace which threatens our present water supply and the future growth and prosperity of Greater Vancouver.

Our President has consented to the request of the Executive Committee to have his address printed for distribution amongst the members so that each member of the Society may have a copy for reference. Other copies will be sent officially to individuals and organizations concerned; this will take the place of resolutions proposed at the opening meeting of the Society. A limited number of extra copies (5 cents each) will be available for distribution outside the membership.

The Executive of the Society requests every member to co-operate in arousing interest in this subject so that immediate steps may be taken to introduce some definite policy of conservation that will protect or reserve the areas from which large communities of the people of this Province derive their water supply. Thus, it is hoped, other cities and future generations may benefit by Vancouver’s experience.

On behalf of the Executive Committee,

C. F. CONNOR,
Honorary Secretary,
3529 Second Avenue West
VANCOUVER.
