Thoroughly enjoying a wonderful site but must correct the location of this photograph. The Brig o' Balgownie is situated at the north east extremity of Aberdeen city and not Balgownie which is in Perthshire.

If John Davidson emigrated to Canada in about 1911. Who would of taken the ten photographs of the rock garden ? This aspect of the garden was constructed between 1923-1926.
Congrats

The image - View of a classroom at Marischal College, University of Aberdeen. 2007.660.0436 is the Picture Gallery (near part) and Mitchell Hall (in background past the curtains). I doubt if this was being used as a classroom. It is still used, much as in the photo shown, for examinations, though now the tables are orientated facing the stained glass window at the far end of the Mitchell Hall.

This is a lantern slide copied from a well-known photograph of Marischal in the University of Aberdeen's George Washington Wilson Collection: see http://ibase.abdn.ac.uk/aberdeenic/, photo taken by John H Wilson. The photo was registered in 1906, and will have been taken very close to that date as that was when the new front of the College was opened. Indeed, the image was probably taken at the time of the opening. This would seem to be image A0316 or one of the similar images noted.
